The 8-Circuit Model of Consciousness (8-CM) was originally developed by Dr. Timothy Leary and was later expounded upon by Robert Anton Wilson and Antero Alli. 8-CM works as a meta-model that can synthesize many different models, even seemingly disparate ones. The Lower Circuits (Circuits 1–4) in the 8-CM, for example, correspond with most models of developmental psychology, whereas the Higher Circuits (Circuits 5–8) offer a framework to explore and understand transcendent and psychedelic experiences, spirituality and metaphysics, and other non-ordinary states of consciousness. 

 

8-Circuit Ascension is founded on the principles of Circuit 6, the circuit of metaprogramming in which an individual is able to consciously examine and intentionally re-program their own biases, beliefs, and conditioning.
